Why do prayer times differ?

Different Islamic organizations use different calculation methods based on varying twilight angles. The Asr time also differs based on juristic opinions: the Standard method (shadow equals the object's length) and the Hanafi method (shadow equals twice the object's length), excluding the noon shadow in both cases. High latitude regions require special adjustments because the sun may not set completely or twilight may not disappear.

Prayer times are calculated based on the position of the sun. Different Islamic organizations use slightly different angles of the sun below the horizon to calculate Fajr and Isha, leading to variations in the timetable.

It is generally recommended to follow the method used by your local mosque or regional Islamic authority. For example, ISNA is widely used in North America, while the Muslim World League is common in Europe.
