Introduction Of Surah Muzzammil
Surah Name
At the beginning of the Surah, the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is addressed as Al-Muzammil (the one who wraps himself in the cloak). Accordingly, the name of this Surah is ‘Al-Muzammil’. (المزمل)
The time of descent
In the first period of Makkah, it was revealed at the time when the series of opposition to you had started, however, the last verse was revealed after a period of time when the five-day prayer had been ordered.
Main subject
In view of the weighty responsibilities of the Prophet’s position, the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was instructed to stay awake at night and engage in prayer and warned those who deny the Prophet.
Summary of Surah
In verses 1 to 9, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has been instructed to worship at night and its usefulness in terms of self-training has also been clarified.
Verses 10 to 14 tell (صلى الله عليه وسلم) to be patient with the words of your opponents and describe their end.
In verses 15 to 19, the disbelievers of Makkah are warned that We have sent a messenger to you just as we sent a messenger to Pharaoh, so see what happened to Pirwaun when he disobeyed the Messenger, and you will be in the hereafter of disbelief. How can you avoid punishment?
In verse 20, the order of Qiyam Lail, which was given in the earlier verses, was mitigated in view of the circumstances and it was directed to arrange obligatory prayers and pay Zakat.
