Adhkar and Duas (supplications) are the weapons of a believer. They protect a believer from all kinds of evil and mischief. Fajr prayer is the first prayer of the day. The environment is calm at this time, and the mind is focused on every task. A person performs every action with full attention. Therefore, at this time, Allah accepts the Duas of those who supplicate. Every Muslim should make Dua as much as possible at the time of and after the Fajr prayer. This article mentions the adhkar that are recited after the Fajr prayer.
Adhkar After Fajr
Many authentic Ahadith and duas have been narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) which are generally recited after prayers, and specifically after the Fajr prayer.
(1) One of the best duas after the Fajr prayer is mentioned in Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith No. 925, narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). She said that when the Prophet (peace be upon him) finished the morning prayer, he would say:
Transliteration: “Allahumma inni as’aluka ilman nafi’an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa ‘amalan mutaqabbalan.”
Translation: “O Allah! I ask You for beneficial knowledge, a pure provision, and an accepted deed.”
(2) The following dua is mentioned in Sunan At-Tirmidhi, Hadith No. 3474. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
Translation: “There is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner. To Him belongs the dominion, and to Him belongs all praise. He gives life and causes death, and He is over all things capable.”
Imam At-Tirmidhi narrated under Hadith No. 3474 from Abu Dharr Al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever says this dua ten times after the Fajr prayer, while still sitting with his legs folded and before speaking, Allah will write ten good deeds for him, erase ten bad deeds, raise his status by ten degrees, and he will be safe from every disliked thing on that day and be protected from Shaytan. And no sin can reach him on that day except for associating partners with Allah.”
(3) This dua is mentioned in Amal Al-Yawm Wal-Laylah by An-Nasai, Hadith No. 111, and Sahih Ibn Hibban, Hadith No. 2022. It should be recited seven times after Fajr and Maghrib prayer.
Transliteration: “Allahumma ajirni minan-nar.”
Translation: “O Allah, save me from the Hellfire.”
Imam An-Nasai in Amal Al-Yawm Wal-Laylah, under Hadith No. 111, and Imam Ibn Hibban in his Sahih, under Hadith No. 2022, narrated from Harith bin Muslim At-Tamimi that he said: “The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to me: ‘When you finish the morning prayer, say this dua seven times before speaking. If you die on that day, Allah will write for you protection from the fire. And when you finish the Maghrib prayer, say this dua seven times before speaking. If you die on that night, Allah will write for you protection from the fire.'”
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would say this dua seven times after Fajr and Maghrib.
(4) This dua is mentioned in Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith No. 6330.
Translation: “There is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner. To Him belongs the dominion, and to Him belongs all praise, and He is over all things capable. O Allah, there is no one to withhold what You give, and no one to give what You withhold. And the good fortune of the fortunate will not avail him against You.”
In Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith No. 6330, it is narrated from Mughira that he wrote a letter to Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan, informing him that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would recite this dua after every obligatory prayer.
(5) Recite three times after every prayer, as mentioned in Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 591.
Transliteration: “Astaghfirullah.”
Translation: “I seek forgiveness from Allah.”
(6) Recite 3 times after every prayer.
Translation: “O Allah, You are As-Salam (the Source of Peace), and from You is all peace. Blessed are You, O Possessor of majesty and honor.”
(7) This dua is mentioned in Amal Al-Yawm Wal-Laylah by An-Nasai, Hadith No. 454.

Translation: “O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You in the best manner.”
Regarding this dua, it is narrated in Musnad Ahmad, Hadith No. 22119, from Muadh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day the Prophet (peace be upon him) held his hand and said: “O Muadh, I love you.” Muadh (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: “My father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah! I also love you.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “O Muadh, I advise you not to ever miss saying this dua after every prayer.”
(9) Ayat al-Kursi
Transliteration: Allahu la ilaha illa Huwa, al-Hayy al-Qayyum. La ta’khudhuhu sinatun wa la nawm. Lahu ma fis-samawati wa ma fil-‘ard. Man dhal-ladhi yashfa’u ‘indahu illa bi-idhnihi. Wasi’a kursiyyuhus-samawati wal-ard. Wa la ya’uduhu hifzuhuma. Wa Huwal-‘Aliyyul-‘Azim.
Translation: “Allah, there is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi (throne) extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.”
