I was born small, unable to do the work. I did not eat by myself, nor did I drink by myself, nor did I speak, nor did I understand. But my mother took it upon herself to care for me, and dedicated herself to my comfort, and she gave up her own rest for mine. How many nights did she stay up, and how much did she toil during the day,
And when I kept silent, she was concerned and said: “What is wrong with you, my son? Why are you not speaking, or are you (feeling) pain, or is someone making you angry?”
And when I entered the fifth year, I began to speak about her in her presence, and I came to know God and His Messenger, and she related stories…
I was a child and my father used to visit me often and eat and share with me. And when he came back from a journey, he would buy a beautiful gift for me, and people would love me and bring me closer to them because of my father.
And he used to instruct my mother that she give me a new garment on the day of Eid. And if I fell ill or I fell from a place and was afflicted by harm or pain, the news would upset him, and he would spend the night sorrowful, and he would comfort my suffering.
And how many other favors and kindnesses my parents have bestowed upon me which they did for me—they taught me, educated me, made me a good person, and sacrificed everything for my sake.
How can I repay these favors? Is it possible to repay them with their equivalent? No, never! What is my wealth and my possessions compared to my parents? Yes, I can serve them with wealth and body, and even maintain ties with their friends, and bring them closer through righteousness and kindness. But I will always supplicate for them, and I always remember them in my prayer.
There are many duas and supplications in the Holy Quran and Hadith, for parents I am writing here:
